The last real to do on our list for The Quilt Story Exchange is to finish off a Lone Star quilt for one of our generous donors. I wanted to share with you all the progress of this work. Claire and I completed the star above a few months ago, but we still have to get this funny shape into a large square.
As you may remember both Claire & I have been moving homes. From my move I was able to replace my old IKEA couch cover (that looked much more like denim than I wanted) with a beautiful new grey one. As I was thinking about the background for the lodestar one night it hit me - use the couch!
Sadly, the pattern I was using did not quite make a perfect match. I had done my own (what I thought was foolproof) math, and obviously I left out a step or two. My dad's voice rang in the back of my mind "measure twice, cut once, son." Opps.
Luckily Claire gets to spend her whole day in the studio, and will be helping me out with our current dilemma. I'm excited to see the progress she makes! Once this top is pieced, we can move on to quilting. Which is super exciting, because it's going to be just beautiful. I'm also really ready to send this off and able to check off another thing from my list. Stay tuned for the final piece, and maybe you'll want to commission one of your own!
With love & beauty,
